Akegera

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
On arrival at Kanombe airport in Kigali, you’ll be welcomed by our guide-driver. You will be amazed by the splendor of Rwanda a land of “a thousand hills”. You will be transferred to your place of accommodation where you will dine and slumber.  The accommodation ranges from budget, mid-range and luxury.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National park and evening game drive.
The beautiful Akegera National Park. This journey is very wonderful because you will see spectacular sceneries; your vehicle may be stopped at any time for you to take photos.  Arrive in time for lunch and then check into our lodge. After lunch, have a game drive to see various animals like Zebras, elephants and Impalas, and others. Remember to carry your camera so as to have everything capture every memorable event. You will later return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight

Day 3: game drive and boat cruise.
Early morning, leave for another game drive; you will drive to the northern section of the park to see the early morning risers returning from their hunt. These animals are primarily active in night and barely seen throughout the day. During the drive, you see various animals such as bush bucks, lions, giraffes, antelopes plus zebras, among other. These you will see in large numbers moving in the grass. Go back for lunch at the lodge to rest. After lunch enjoy a boat cruise on the beautiful lake Ihema, to see hippos, crocodiles plus various bird species in addition to other animals at a distance away. This will be a very rewarding experience. Later dine and slumber at your hotel

Day 4: Transfer from Akagera to Nyungwe National park.
After a hefty breakfast drive to Nyungwe National Park. This journey is very interesting with several stopovers; to Butare museum as well as Nyanza museum. In addition you will have an opportunity to take beautiful pictures and be informed about fascinating Rwanda culture. After lunch you will continue to the park where you will arrive in the late evening. Dine and slumber at your lodge.

Day 5: First Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon primate walk in the forest.
Following an early breakfast continue to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the chimpanzee tracking rules. This encounter is stunning as you move through the verdant jungle, you’ll get an opportunity to see them personally going about their day to day activities; playing, feeding and as well as resting. You will be in position to take several photographs. At the end of the trek, you will head back for lunch at the lodge after which set out again to trek colobus monkeys. During the hike, you will find other primates like vervet monkeys and baboons among others while Bird watchers will enjoy the various bird species here. Return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 6: Second chimp tracking and afternoon canopy walk
Following breakfast, enjoy another opportunity to trek chimpanzees. Today you will take another route. You’ll certainly appreciate that Rwanda is well gifted naturally. After lunch you will go for the magnificent forest canopy walk, which is properly constructed to provide you a clearer view of the various primates, birds and waterfalls. It is a very memorable lifetime experience. Return for dine and the overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.
Following an early breakfast drive to Volcanoes national Park. This journey is very fascinating with stunning sceneries of the region, making various stopovers. Enjoy lunch along the way and later arrive in the late evening in the park. Dine and slumber at your lodge

Day 8: Gorilla tracking.
After an early breakfast proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing regarding gorilla trekking by the park rangers. You will hike through the verdant jungle looking for mountain gorillas. Some amount of physical fitness is needed during this activity since it involves a lot of climb hills. The experience is tedious but impressive when you finally face the mountain gorillas. You’ll see them in families as they go about their day-to-day routine activities; mothers caring for the young, playing as well as feeding. You are required to maintain a distance while you watch them, make sure to turn off the flash of your camera as you take pictures and also keep silent. Gorilla Trekking takes approximately two to eight hours. At the end of the tracking, return to the lodge and relax. Later on have a cultural walk to see the hospitable Banyarwanda go about their daily activities. You will get an opportunity to interact with the local people and appreciate their fascinating culture. You will be entertained by traditional dances and songs. Later head back to your lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 9: Golden monkey/Dian Fossey.

After an early breakfast set out to the park headquarters for a briefing ahead of golden monkey trekking. Before meeting these golden monkeys, you’ll see some other primates, wildlife and plants. Eventually you will come face to face with the golden monkeys. You’ll observe them play and hop from one branch to the other; it is such an amazing memorable encounter as you even take several photos! After lunch you will head to Karisoke Research Center, to visit the grave of Dian Fossey -an American primatologist who entirely devoted her life on safeguarding the lives of mountain gorillas and later laid to rest next to Digit, mountain gorillas she really loved. Return to Dine and slumber at your lodge of choice.

Day 10: Boat cruise and transfer to Kigali.
Have a great breakfast you will have a boat cruise, to the coffee island to enjoy the breathtaking view of the neighboring islands. Go back to the lodge and later head back to Kigali city. Depending on arrival time, you will go to a couple of craft shops to purchase a souvenir. In case you have no flight that night, you will check into your hotel else drive transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
